Part of Belgorod is left without electricity after a Russian bomb hits a substation

7 December 05:17

On the evening of December 6, an explosion occurred near the power substation on Storozhnaya Street in the Eastern District of Belgorod, leaving part of the regional center and the suburbs without electricity. There was an unscheduled bomb drop from a Russian warplane. According to media estimates, this is at least 133 bombs that Russian fighter jets have dropped on the Russian-controlled border area since the beginning of the year, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing Russian propaganda media.

Before the explosion in Belgorod, there were no missile alarms and no warnings of drone threats, which proves that the Russian shell fell. According to residents of houses in the area where the bomb fell, before the incident they heard the sound of a flying plane moving toward the border. The explosion left a noticeable crater near the substation on Storozhova. The site of the impact was cordoned off, and emergency services were working at the scene. The Belgorod governor confirmed the power outage and said that the cause of the accident was “the arrival of an unidentified munition.” According to him, one person was injured in the explosion.

“There are still problems with electricity supply in parts of Belgorod and Belgorod district. The man who was injured in Belgorod was taken by an ambulance to the city hospital No. 2 for examination. Belgorod with a preliminary diagnosis of barotrauma,” the head of the region wrote in his telegram channel. In addition, a truck was damaged, and windows were smashed in two private houses.

In Belgorod itself, there was no electricity supply in a number of districts for some time. Local social media reported interruptions in the city center as well. Traffic lights were partially disabled there.

Since the beginning of the year, Russian planes have already dropped at least 133 aerial bombs (FABs and UMBs) and three missiles in the border area of Russia and the occupied part of Ukraine. Last year, at least 165 FABs fell on these territories.
