Khmelnytsky and Rivne NPPs were forced to reduce electricity production as a result of damage to power substations by Russian attacks on November 8.

This was reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

It emphasizes that nuclear safety in Ukraine remains extremely unstable after the Russian strikes.

“Two operating nuclear power plants – Khmelnytsky and Rivne – were forced to reduce electricity production after a nighttime attack on power substations that are critical to nuclear safety and security,” the IAEA said in a statement.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi once again called for maximum military restraint to maintain nuclear safety and avoid an accident with serious radiological consequences.

“Electrical substations are crucial to our efforts to ensure nuclear safety and security in time of war. Their further destruction is a serious cause for concern in this regard,” the IAEA Director General emphasized.

As a reminder, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said that the Russian attacks on the substations near Khmelnytsky and Rivne NPPs were not accidental but deliberately planned.
