In response to the supply of drones to Israel: Iran has begun threatening Ukraine with missile strikes

Iran will begin launching missile strikes against Ukraine if it continues to provide military aid to Israel, particularly by supplying drones.

This was stated by Ibrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission, in an interview with Iran International, according to [Komersant].

He noted that any support from Kyiv to Tel Aviv makes Ukrainian territory a “legitimate and justified target” for Tehran under the UN Charter.

Ukraine has indeed stepped up cooperation with Middle Eastern countries in countering Iranian drones. On March 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukrainian experts, along with interceptor drones, had been sent to Jordan to protect American bases. In total, he said, official requests for assistance have come from 11 countries, including Middle Eastern states, as well as from the U.S. and some European capitals.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Saudi Arabia is among the countries that have expressed a desire to begin defense cooperation with Ukraine.

At the same time, Iran itself has long been providing assistance to Russia in the war against Ukraine. Tehran, in particular, has supplied Moscow with thousands of Shahed attack drones, as well as the technology to manufacture them on Russian territory. Iranian operators trained Russian military personnel in the use of these drones and participated in the first attacks on Ukrainian cities, Zelenskyy noted at a press conference with the President of Romania on March 12. Additionally, according to the Ukrainian president, Iran has supplied Russia with approximately 150,000 artillery shells and missiles.

The Iranians are Russia’s allies both on paper and in practice, Zelenskyy emphasized.
