It will take Ukraine 3 years to restore the Dnipro hydroelectric power station. This opinion was expressed by Ukrhydroenergo CEO Ihor Syrota in an interview with Forbes Ukraine, reports [Kommersant].
He noted that the repair of the plant requires time and money, as it should become less vulnerable to future attacks.
“We just finished clearing the rubble yesterday. It will take time to estimate the cost of restoration. It will take years to restore the plant to the design solution, while it needs to be made less vulnerable to new possible attacks,” said Syrota.
Syrota also stressed that additional resources are needed to reduce the plant’s vulnerability to Russian attacks.
“For the enemy, DniproHES is more accessible, the front line is 50 km away. They are firing various missiles there – S-300, X-101, X-69. Our air defence cannot always cope with such an influx of missiles,” said Ukrhydroenergo’s CEO.
At the same time, the company is preparing lawsuits in national and international courts to compensate Russia for the damage it caused by shelling DniproHES.
