Due to the lack of military registration documents, 87 citizens were denied access to the Ukrainian border during mobilisation on the first day of the new rules. Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, told "Komersant Ukrainian" in an exclusive commentary.
“The total number of refusals yesterday was almost 255 people, 87 of them due to the lack of a military registration document, and on 16 July the total number of refusals was 220,”
– said the State Border Guard Service spokesman.
Demchenko stressed that the total number of refusals to cross the border did not increase significantly compared to the previous day.
“This indicates that most men consciously approached the need to have military registration documents with them,” he said.
The State Border Guard Service spokesperson reminded that the military registration document to be presented at the border can be either in paper or electronic form.
“For the category of men who have the right to cross the border due to deferment from conscription or exclusion from military registration for health reasons, military registration documents must contain information about the receipt of such deferment or exclusion from military registration,” he said.
As reported by [Kommersant], since yesterday, border guards have been checking military registration documents of all male Ukrainian citizens aged 18 to 60 when they cross the border to leave.
In an interview with Kommersant Ukrainian
, Andriy Demchenko told whether an electronic military registration document can completely replace a paper one, what the queues are like at the border with Ukraine and shared information on how to avoid congestion at checkpoints.
Demchenko reminded that the Western Regional Directorate’s Facebook page publishes the state of congestion at the checkpoints in the west every three hours so that people can get acquainted with the situation and choose the least congested checkpoints.
