Chernihiv region has restored 95% of the pre-war level of agricultural production in three years after the full-scale invasion of Russia.

This was announced by the head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration Vyacheslav Chaus on Telegram, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to him, in 2024, the region harvested a record grain crop of 5 million tons, which is 26% more than in 2022. The agro-industrial complex accounts for more than 80% of the region’s total exports, mainly plant products. In monetary terms, exports in 2024 exceeded $800 million.

Tax revenues from agricultural enterprises increased by 54% compared to 2022, and contributions to local budgets increased by more than 25%, which are used for community development, infrastructure, and defense.

Since the beginning of the war, about 60,000 hectares of agricultural land in Chernihiv region remain potentially contaminated by mines and shells. Of these, more than 17,000 hectares cannot yet be cleared of mines due to the proximity to the border with Russia. Humanitarian demining began in 2023: over 1.7 thousand hectares were cleared in two years, 415 hectares were surveyed in 2025 and over 150 hectares were cleared.

In 2024, state support for the region’s farmers reached a record UAH 355 million, including grants for processing, creating gardens and greenhouses, compensation for the purchase of Ukrainian machinery, loans, subsidies, and microgrants for business development.

According to Ukrinform, as of August 15, Ukrainian farmers harvested 24.8 million tons of early grains and legumes, of which nearly 19 million tons were wheat.
