A petition with a proposal to posthumously award Iryna Farion the title of Hero of Ukraine will be considered at a meeting of the award commission at the Ministry of Education and Science. This became known from the response to the petition of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

“…we would like to inform you that, according to the Ministry of Education and Science, your electronic petition will be considered at a meeting of the award commission of the said Ministry,”

– the response reads.

At the same time, the Prime Minister explained that a candidate for the title of Hero of Ukraine is nominated at the place of work. As you know, Iryna Farion worked as a professor at Lviv Polytechnic National University, from which she was fired in 2023 for making negative statements about Russian-speaking military personnel. However, Farion was reinstated following a court ruling that declared the dismissal illegal. She claimed that she would then demand the dismissal of the rector himself.

In addition, both Lviv Polytechnic and the award commission at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine are subordinated to the Ministry of Education, headed by Minister Oksen Lisovyi. Iryna Farion used to criticise him very harshly and called him “the main ignoramus and plagiarist of the country”.

“Lisovyi was also “handed out” by Farion because he published an order from the rector of Lviv Polytechnic to dismiss her.

“How can I help you, little men… who decided to fight with Iryna Farion?”

– she asked, addressing Lisovyi and the rector of her university, Yuriy Bobalo.

Thus, the decision to award or not to award the title of Hero of Ukraine to Iryna Farion will be made by these “little men” and the people who work under their supervision.
