Are Ukrainians really renouncing their citizenship en masse: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released figures

Recently, Mykola Kniazhytskyi, a member of the European Solidarity party , stated that hundreds of thousands of citizens had allegedly applied to renounce their Ukrainian citizenship. In order to verify this information [comersant] sent a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to verify this information.
They said that from 24 February 2022 to mid-September this year, 928 people had applied to foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine to renounce Ukrainian citizenship.
“One of the conditions for the registration of renunciation of Ukrainian citizenship is that a citizen of Ukraine has a document certifying that the citizen of Ukraine has acquired the citizenship of another state (states), or a document issued by an authorised body of another state stating that a citizen of Ukraine will acquire the citizenship of another state if he or she renounces Ukrainian citizenship,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained.
The Ministry stressed that from 24 February 2022 to 4 March 2024, the Presidential Decree granted 14 people’s requests to renounce Ukrainian citizenship, which is slightly more than 1% of all applicants.
