Will subsidies be increased after electricity tariff increase: Pension Fund’s answer

6 June 2024 13:43

Due to the increase in the cost of electricity in Ukraine, the amount of the subsidy will be recalculated automatically. This wasreported by the press service of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

It is noted that people who have already been granted subsidies do not need to apply to the Pension Fund of Ukraine to review the amount of payments due to the increase in the tariff.

Since the electricity tariff increase took place on 1 June, the recalculated subsidy amount will be included in the June payment that recipients will receive in July.

The Pension Fund explained that according to Government Resolution No. 848, the amount of housing subsidies is reviewed automatically within the established period of its provision, in particular in case of changes in utility tariffs, without the need for citizens to apply.

It should be noted that from 1 June, the tariff for most consumers will be UAH 4.32 per kW.

The basic tariff was left for those household consumers who live in houses heated by electricity. The threshold for the increased tariff was made very high. The tariffs for these consumers are as follows:

  • up to 2000 kW/month – 2.64 UAH/kW
  • over 2000 kW/month – 4.32 UAH/kW.

Until 30 September, however, such consumers will pay UAH 4.32 per kW.

The possible increase in electricity tariffs was discussed after the largest-scale Russian attack on the Ukrainian energy sector. It is known that Centrenergo has lost 100% of its generation, and DTEK has damaged 80% of its capacity.

Ukrenergo urges Ukrainians to save electricity during peak hours.
