Will taxes for entrepreneurs increase: the Ministry of Finance responds to rumors

Recently, the media has reported on an alleged tax increase for individual entrepreneurs (IEs). However, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has officially denied these rumors and stated that no changes to the tax system are currently planned, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The Ministry of Finance said that the information about tax increases is manipulative and untrue. The Ministry emphasizes that anonymous Telegram channels spread clickbait headlines that mislead citizens.
“Anonymous Telegram channels have spread information and clickbait headlines that the Ministry of Finance is already planning to increase taxes for individual entrepreneurs. Such information is not true and is manipulative,” the Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry of Finance also noted that amendments to the tax legislation on the simplified taxation system can be considered only after the necessary prerequisites are met.
The Ministry of Finance assures that this process will be public and will require discussions with the public, business and all branches of government, as well as with the involvement of international partners.
“Only after public discussions will the legislative changes be considered and adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” the Ministry added.
Background of the issue
The day before, the media reported that the Ministry of Finance’s report on the implementation of the National Revenue Strategy in 2024 states that the government plans to significantly change the conditions for individual entrepreneurs using the simplified taxation system by raising tax rates.
In particular, the reform envisages an increase in tax rates – over the next three years, the single tax rates for legal entities of the third group will gradually increase to the level of the regular income tax rate (18%).
However, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy , called such assumptions “frivolous.” He assured that MPs do not support the initiative to increase the tax burden on entrepreneurs.
