Servicemen who have left the service without permission for the first time have the opportunity to return to it until January 1, 2025, without criminal prosecution.
This information was made public by Tetyana Sapian, the SBI Director’s Communications Advisor, during a television broadcast, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
“If you went to the NWC as a serviceman, you have the opportunity to return to your military unit before January 1 of the new year, that is, in a month. After you return to your place of service, the commander has 72 hours to extend your contract or reinstate you in service. Cash, food and clothing allowances, as well as benefits and social guarantees, are resumed… This is the current algorithm of actions,”

The law on returning from the Eastern Ukraine
The law on returning to service from the Eastern Ukraine, which was signed yesterday by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, does not mention January 1, 2025 as the deadline for unpunished return.
According to the document, during martial law, military personnel who first arbitrarily left military units or places of service or deserted and voluntarily arrived at the place of service and expressed their willingness to continue military service, military service and the contract are extended.
Salary payments, benefits and social guarantees, as well as all other types of support are resumed for such servicemen.
At the same time, the implementation of the law will not lead to the release of servicemen from criminal liability.
