SBI completes investigation into State Fisheries Agency inspector: what was found

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed a pre-trial investigation into the chief state inspector of the State Fisheries Agency, who failed to include in his 2024 declaration information about an apartment worth about UAH 3.5 million and a car owned by his wife.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The indictment has been sent to court.
Procedural guidance in the case was provided by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
What is known about the case
According to the investigation, the civil servant concealed a 98.2-square-meter apartment in Brovary registered in his wife’s name in his declaration.
He also failed to declare a car, the value of which was understated several times in the purchase agreement.
The SBI initiated a request to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) to recover these assets for the state’s revenue, as they could have been acquired illegally.
“Thus, the SBI not only investigated the fact of false declaration, but also took procedural steps to transfer suspicious assets to the state,” the agency said.
What punishment does the official face?
The sanction of the article provides for a fine of 3 to 4 thousand tax-free minimum incomes or restraint of liberty for up to two years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions.
A wave of anti-corruption investigations
The case of the State Fisheries Agency inspector is not an isolated incident.
In recent weeks alone, the SBI , NABU, and SAPO have completed several investigations into public officials suspected of abuse of office, fraud, or false declarations.
- In Lviv region, a court found the head of the SES department guilty of fraud.
- In Kyiv region, the head of the financial service of a military unit who had been paying salaries to dismissed soldiers for almost a year was notified of suspicion.
- TheNABU and the SAPO exposed a large-scale scheme in the procurement of drones for the Defense Forces, organized by officials of the State Special Communications Service.
The anti-corruption agencies emphasize that after the resumption of the full-fledged work of electronic declaration in 2024, the number of detected cases of concealment of property among officials of various levels has increased.
