14 February 06:33
In January 2026, inflation in Ukraine was 0.7% compared to December 2025. At the same time, the situation in the regions varies significantly: in some areas, prices rose faster than the average, while in others they remained almost unchanged. The highest price increases were recorded in the west and south of the country, and the lowest in the northeast. This was reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Where prices are rising the fastest: inflation leaders
The highest inflation rates in January 2026 were recorded in:
- Zhytomyr region — 1.0%
- Odesa region — 1.0%
These regions became the absolute leaders in terms of the rate of increase in the cost of goods and services, significantly exceeding the average for Ukraine.
High rates of price growth were also recorded in a number of western and central regions:
- Rivne region — 0.9%
- Khmelnytskyi region — 0.9%
- Zakarpattia region — 0.9%
- Dnipropetrovsk region — 0.9%.
This indicates increased inflationary pressure in these regions.
The situation in Kyiv and most regions
In the capital and many regions, inflation remained close to the national average.
In particular, prices rose by:
- 0.8% — in Kyiv, Ternopil, and Mykolaiv regions
- 0.7% in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Chernihiv, and other regions.
This corresponds to the average inflation rate in Ukraine.
In some regions, inflation was lower:
- Lviv region — 0.5%
- Volyn region — 0.5%
- Vinnytsia region — 0.5%
Where inflation is lowest: unexpected results
The lowest inflation rates were recorded in:
- Zaporizhzhia region — 0.2%
- Cherkasy region — 0.3%
The situation in Sumy region was unique, as it was the only region in Ukraine where inflation in January was 0.0%. This means that the overall price level there did not change compared to the previous month.
The overall inflation situation in Ukraine
According to the State Statistics Service, inflation in Ukraine remains moderate but is showing a gradual increase. Price dynamics are influenced by:
- seasonal factors;
- the situation on the energy market;
- exchange rates;
- logistics costs;
- regional economic characteristics.
What this means for Ukrainians
The difference in inflation rates between regions means that the rate of increase in the cost of goods and services may vary significantly depending on the region. Residents of the southern and western regions are currently experiencing the highest price increases, while the situation in the northeast remains more stable.
At the same time, the national inflation rate of 0.7% indicates that the price situation is relatively under control at the beginning of 2026.
