Ukrainians who received their driver’s license before 2013 should update it to be able to use all the online services currently available from the Ministry of Internal Affairs service centers. This statement was made in an interview with Ukrainian Radio by Roman Batsits, deputy head of the department for the implementation of electronic services of the department for the organization of registration activities and admission of drivers to drive vehicles of the MIA’s GSU, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to him, very often citizens turn to the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs asking why they cannot order a particular service online, and this is where the need to update the information arises.

“People who received their documents 10-20 years ago apply. The register has been operating since 2013, and we do not have such global content that will allow all Ukrainian citizens to receive services from us. Therefore, if you have a driver’s license older than 2013, it would be a good idea to update it,” the official explained.

According to Mr. Batsits, in some cases, you can exchange your driver’s license at Diia, even if it was issued earlier.

He also noted that a digitized image of a person’s face, i.e. a photo, is quite important for a driver’s license. If the driver’s license was held for a long time, the database does not contain a photo, and this can cause problems with ordering services through online services.

Therefore, Roman Batsits emphasized, updating documents is the key to successful use of online services.

It is worth noting that driver’s licenses issued before March 29, 2011, do not have an expiration date. At present, the license is valid for 30 years, except for those issued for the first time, which are valid for 2 years.
