Details of the negotiation process
According to Witkoff, the meetings between the Ukrainian and American delegations took place in a constructive spirit as part of ongoing mediation efforts.
The parties discussed key issues and next steps in the negotiation track, paying particular attention to aligning approaches to achieve practical results.
“In Florida, the delegations held constructive talks focused on narrowing the scope of unresolved issues and finding ways to reach a comprehensive peace agreement,” Witkoff emphasized.
The Ukrainian delegation included National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, “Servant of the People” faction leader Davyd Arakhamia, Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov, and First Deputy Head of the Office of the President Serhiy Kyslytsia.
The U.S. side was represented by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, U.S. Presidential Advisor Jared Kushner, as well as Senior Advisors Josh Grunbaum from the White House and Chris Carran from the State Department.
Following the first day of meetings, the delegation reported the results to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Assessment by the Parties
The U.S. side emphasized the importance of these talks for global stability and noted the U.S. President’s leadership in this process.
“We welcome continued cooperation to resolve outstanding issues, recognizing its importance for broader global stability,” said Steve Witkoff.
For his part, Rustem Umerov thanked the partners for their consistent work and announced that the negotiation process would continue.
“We thank the United States for its engagement and consistent work to advance the process. We will continue this work,” emphasized the head of the National Security and Defense Council.
Zelenskyy on Peace Talks
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that the main goal of the meetings in the U.S. is to understand how ready Russia really is to end the war. According to him, following the first round of consultations in Florida, the Ukrainian team will continue negotiations with the American side.
The head of state also stressed that the negotiationprocess in the U.S. is taking place without the participation of Russian representatives. At this meeting, the Ukrainian delegation planned to raise three key issues aimed at achieving a just peace.
