There are questions about the quality of the military uniforms purchased by the Ministry of Defence. Therefore, tomorrow, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and suppliers are invited to a meeting of the subcommittee of the relevant defence committee of the Verkhovna Rada. Together with the MPs, they will find out the extent of the problem and ways to solve it. Read more in the exclusive commentary [Kommersant] this was reported by Gennadiy Kasai, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Defence Committee.
“There are questions (about the quality of uniforms – ed.). We are convening a subcommittee in the Rada tomorrow. We are inviting both representatives of the Ministry of Defence and representatives of our production facilities. We will communicate with them and find out what the issues are. Tomorrow we will have more detailed information on this issue,” he said.
His colleague on the committee, Fedir Venislavsky, commented on the situation in a similar way.
“Tomorrow at the subcommittee we will consider this issue,” the politician said.
What about the uniforms for the army and why there are so many defects
Earlier, it became known that the Ministry of Defence had massive problems in the Ministry of Defence with the quality of the purchased army uniforms. This was reported by Glavkom, which published the relevant documents. They show that suppliers of uniforms for the Armed Forces receive many claims, complaints and complaints about the quality of the clothes they supply.
Oleksandr Sokolovskyi, chairman of the FEU’s Committee for Defence Procurement of Light Industry, stressed that multimillion-dollar state contracts with the Defence Ministry for the supply of uniforms are often awarded to companies that do not have their own production facilities. For example, cases of supplying the Ministry of Defence with trousers of very poor quality were recorded back in June.
“The trousers already delivered do not meet the technical specifications of the Ministry of Defence. There is a problem with the fabric they are made of. These trousers are not breathable (air permeability is twice the norm), and shrinkage is five times higher,” he wrote.
Problems with the supply and quality of uniforms for the army are becoming particularly urgent as the pace of mobilisation increases, and the MoD’s need for such supplies increases.
Some media outlets suggest that Turkish military clothing manufacturers, which have previously supplied Ukraine with uniforms of adequate quality and whose production capacity allows them to complete large urgent orders, could help in this situation.
Regarding the latter suggestion, Gennadiy Kasai added that he believes that Ukrainian manufacturers are still capable of fulfilling the volumes of orders from the Ministry of Defence required by the state.
“But if it is Turkey, we will control it,” he added.
