On December 23, the State Audit Service of Ukraine will launch a comprehensive audit of defense industry enterprises on behalf of the President and the government.
This was stated by the head of the State Audit Service, Alla Basalaeva, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The audit will cover 88 facilities, including 86 defense industry enterprises and two state-owned enterprises of the Ministry of Defense – the Defense Procurement Agency and the State Logistics Operator.
About 500 employees of the State Audit Service are involved in the control measures, who will conduct audits and inspections at enterprises involved in the production and purchase of weapons.
Basalaeva emphasized that the efficiency of management of state defense enterprises directly affects Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against the enemy. Therefore, this audit is a priority for the agency, as well as the audit of energy state-owned companies launched in the fall.
The Head of the State Audit Service recalled the results of the audit of the Ministry of Defense in 2023, which revealed a significant number of violations and helped prevent losses in the financing of the Defense Forces.
The conclusions of that audit became the basis for criminal proceedings, dismissal of high-ranking officials and recovery of millions of dollars for unfulfilled contracts. The courts established the facts of embezzlement of public funds, including expenses for private villas in Croatia.
As a reminder, the State Audit Service revealed violations worth UAH 22.4 billion over the year.
