The State Statistics Service reported where food prices in Ukraine are growing the most and where they are growing the least

Over 11 months of 2024, food prices rose the most in Kyiv, and the least in Zaporizhzhia region. This was announced by Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, citing data from the State Statistics Service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

In general, according to the State Statistics Service, inflation in the consumer market in November 2024 compared to October 2024 amounted to 1.9%, and since the beginning of the year – 10.4%.

Core inflation in November 2024 was 1.2% compared to October 2024, and 9.3% since the beginning of the year.

The largest contribution to the acceleration of inflation was made by rising prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In particular, food inflation accounted for half of the total price increase over the period.

How food prices changed

The absolute price leader in November was eggs, which rose by almost 55 percent compared to October.

Prices for vegetables, milk and dairy products, butter, sunflower oil, processed cereals, bread, soft drinks, pasta, fish and fish products increased by 13.7-1.5%. At the same time, prices for fruit and sugar decreased by 1.5% and 1.3%, respectively.

The difference in food price growth between regions is quite significant.

Where prices rose the most

According to the statistics agency, prices rose the most in Kyiv – by 15.7%, and the least in Zaporizhzhia region – by 9.3%.

In addition to Kyiv, the highest food inflation (compared to the average) was observed in Poltava, Sumy, Volyn, Kirovohrad, and Kharkiv regions.

The lowest price growth, except for Zaporizhzhia, was in Dnipropetrovs’k, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Cherkasy regions.

At the same time, the average growth in Ukraine was 12.1%.

How much and where do individual products cost?

If we talk about individual food products monitored by the State Statistics Service, the difference in prices in certain regions is even more pronounced.

For example, 1 kg of lard in Kyiv in November cost UAH 243, while in Zaporizhzhia region it was UAH 177 (37%).

At the same time, rye bread and certain cereals (barley) were almost 20% cheaper in Zaporizhzhia region than in Kyiv.
