Actions of individual representatives of the TCC may fall under abuse of power with criminal liability up to 12 years, – lawyer Kravets

In an interview for the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian", lawyer and attorney Rostyslav Kravets said that some of the high-profile incidents involving representatives of territorial recruitment centers (TCCs) may indicate serious violations of the law.
In his opinion, military commissioners do not have the authority to detain citizens, and the use of force or hiding their faces can be qualified as abuse of power.
Kravets reminded that the Constitution of Ukraine prohibits the use of the Armed Forces and other military formations to restrict the rights and freedoms of civilians:
“Only representatives of the National Police, the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service have the right to detain us. That’s it,” he emphasized.
Scandalous videos: artificial intelligence or reality?
Commenting on MP Mykyta Poturaev’s claim that some of the videos may have been created by artificial intelligence, Kravets remained cautious, but emphasized that if we assume their authenticity, the actions in the videos are against the law.

Of particular concern is the footage of the alleged TCC members wearing balaclavas:
“Is this legal? No. This is an abuse of power. It is punishable by up to 12 years in prison,” the lawyer said.
In conclusion, the lawyer emphasized that the current legislation already contains sufficiently severe sanctions for abuse of power:
“They say that the responsibility for TCCs should be increased. I ask: where to increase? Have you opened the law? Is 12 years in prison not enough? Take it and apply it.”
