Ukraine has been experiencing a stable trend of monthly price increases for bread and bakery products, and experts predict that the price increase will continue until the end of 2025. Analysts expect the price increase to range from 11% to 23%, depending on the type of product.
This was stated by the National Research Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics” in a commentto Ukrinform, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to Svitlana Cheremisina, an employee of the Department of Agricultural Market and International Integration, the average monthly increase in prices for bakery products is from 1 to 1.7%, the Ukrainian bakery market shows a systematic rise in price that occurs every month.
The forecasts for the end of 2025 are as follows
- High-grade wheat bread may cost around UAH 63.5 per kilogram, an increase of 22.3% compared to current prices.
- First-grade wheat bread – about 49.6 UAH/kg (16.7%).
- Rye bread – about 50.6 UAH/kg (12.1%).
- A 0.5 kg loaf will cost UAH 30.9, which is 11.2% higher than the current figures.
Ms. Cheremisina emphasized that the grain harvest is not a decisive factor for price formation. Only 20-25% of the harvested grain is directed to the domestic market, while the bulk is exported. Other factors put the main pressure on the final price of products:
At the beginning of the year, wheat flour went up by 4.3% and rye flour by 55.2%.
Gasoline and diesel prices increased by 6.7% and 6.9%, respectively.
Companies in critical industries are required to provide a minimum salary of UAH 20 thousand per month to their employees, which is also reflected in the price of finished goods.
As of September 20, Ukrainian supermarkets were offering Riga Borodynivskyi rye bread (300 grams) at an average price of UAH 45.83, which is almost the same as in July and August. This indicates that there has been no sharp rise in the price of this variety so far.
Analysts warn that the upward trend in bread prices will continue in the coming months, so Ukrainians should prepare for a gradual increase in spending on bakery products.
