Delegation of the US Congress arrives in Kyiv

Today, 22 April, a bipartisan delegation of the US Congress arrived in Kyiv by train. This was reported by the US Embassy in Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ reports.

Four members of the House of Representatives arrived in the capital of Ukraine.

“The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv is pleased to welcome today a bipartisan delegation of U.S. Congress members Thomas Kane, Bill Keating, Madeleine Dean, and Nathaniel Moran,” the embassy said,

The embassy also added that the visit is another reminder that the United States’ support for Ukraine is unwavering.

It should be noted that the US House of Representatives has approved a bill to fund aid to Ukraine. Now the US Senate must consider this issue and then sign it by US President Joe Biden.

Mark Warner, chairman of the US Senate Intelligence Committee, said that the US could send aid to Ukraine, including long-range ATACMS missiles, as early as next week. He added that over the past few months, the Biden administration has had time to prepare the ATACMS shipment.

The US is also considering sending several additional military advisers to Ukraine for a non-combat role. They would be based at the Washington Embassy in Kyiv.

A Pentagon spokesman declined to say the exact number of advisers who might be sent to Ukraine for security reasons. Politico’s sources say that the additional contingent will support logistics and oversee the weapons that the US sends to Ukraine. In addition, the additional advisers will help the Ukrainian military with weapons maintenance.

While it is not yet known how many troops will be sent to Ukraine, two unnamed US officials have said that there could be as many as 60.
