A few weeks left before EU membership talks start – EC

Over the next few weeks, the European Union is to publish the framework conditions for membership negotiations with Ukraine. This was announced during a briefing by European Commission spokesperson Ana Pisonero, reports 
She stressed that no membership requirements were relaxed for Ukraine, even in view of Russia’s military aggression.
“In this process, there were no relaxations for Ukraine, everything is based on achievements. We have clearly described in the report what Ukraine has done to get to this point. Given the context in which Ukraine is located, this was particularly impressive. In the face of such brutal aggression, they were able to continue this process, to continue the work of the parliament, to continue reforms. It is very important to remember this,”
– pisonero said.
She added that there are only a few weeks left before the framework conditions for membership negotiations are published.
“I can’t speak clearly about the timing, but the work on the negotiation framework is progressing. I think we will be able to present them in the coming weeks,”
– the European Commission representative added.
The day before, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said that Ukraine would soon become an EU member.
