In two days after the release of the video game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, more than 1 million copies have already been sold. This is stated on the game’s official page on the X social network, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The release of the video game “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl” started on November 20. The game was created by the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World. The developers reported that they have already sold a million copies of the game.
“It is not surprising that the Zone is a bit crowded. A million copies have been sold, and many more stalkers have joined the hunt for artifacts with Game Pass. This is just the beginning of our unforgettable adventure. The heart of Chernobyl is stronger than each of us. Thank you, stalkers!” the post reads.
The development of the game lasted six years. The project was first announced in 2018 with a planned release in 2022. However, the release was postponed several times. Among the reasons is the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, which forced the Ukrainian team of GSC Game World to partially move to Prague. In addition, the developers faced serious challenges, including cyberattacks and data leaks. The last relocation took place in July 2024
PC Gaming Show recognized S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl as the most anticipated game of 2024.
