“Board of shame” for Lukashenko’s handlers: how the Belarusian opposition exposes the regime

17 September 20:06

The Belarusian opposition has launched the online platform Bulbash, which publishes the names and details of the supporters of the regime of self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

The site already contains more than 16 thousand records, and the database continues to be updated. The project aims to make visible those who voluntarily support the dictatorship.

How it works

  • The database includes judges, security forces and other supporters of the regime.
  • Information about each is publicly available.
  • The purpose of the platform is to create a “board of shame” and identify accomplices in the regime’s crimes who “cannot hide in the shadows.”

Ukrainian journalist Roman Tsymbalyuk wrote online:

“Did Lukashenko’s ‘bulbosiloviki’ think they could hide in the shadow of their Moscow master? Yeah, now! The Belarusian opposition has launched the online platform Bulbash, a database of all those who have voluntarily donned the uniform of dictatorship.”

Why it’s important

The platform allows the public to see the structures of support for the regime and reminds them that cooperation with dictatorship has consequences.
In an authoritarian regime, such projects serve as a form of public control and symbolic pressure on officials and security forces.

It is worth reminding that Lukashenko’s regime is known for systematic repression of the opposition, journalists, and activists.

Publications like Bulbash create open documentation for international organizations, human rights defenders and civil society.

Similar initiatives exist in other authoritarian states, where activists try to publicly identify people involved in the regime.
