On the night of September 10, for the first time since the full-scale war in Ukraine, Poland was forced to use weapons against enemy drones that massively violated its airspace. The situation prompted an emergency government response and consultations with NATO, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Tusk’s appeal to NATO
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that immediately after the incident he contacted NATO Secretary General and former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
“I briefed the NATO Secretary General on the current situation and the actions we have taken against the objects that violated our airspace. We are in constant contact,” Tusk wrote on social network X.

Although the prime minister did not directly identify the drones as Russian, he confirmed that he had already received a report from the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces on the downing of the drones that had invaded Polish airspace.
Emergency government meetings
Tusk convened an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers in response to the attack. At 8 a.m. Warsaw time, the first meeting was held to discuss the security situation. The main emergency government meeting began at 9:00 am Kyiv time.
Earlier, the Prime Minister also met with ministers responsible for national security. This was reported by government spokesman Adam Shlapka.

Calling up territorial defense reservists
Following the invasion of Polish airspace by Russian drones, 10 voivodeships have announced an accelerated call-up of territorial defense reservists. They may receive a “request for immediate appearance,” according to the official channel of thePolish Territorial Defense Forces on the social network X.
- In Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, Lubelskie and Podkarpackie voivodeships, reservists must report within 6 hours of the request.
 - In the Pomeranian, Warmian-Masurian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Łódź, Świętokrzyskie and Lesser Poland voivodeships – within 12 hours.
 - No immediate call is currently planned for other regions.

The Territorial Defense Forces urged citizens to remain calm, transmit only official messages and notify the police if they find wreckage.

Polish aviation and airport restrictions
During the night, monitoring channels reported more than 10 Shahed-type kamikaze drones entering Polish airspace. In response, the country raised combat aircraft and opened fire for the first time to repel the threat.
Four Polish airports were temporarily suspended due to the attack.
The significance of the incident
This case became a precedent for Poland: for the first time, the country not only recorded the flight of Russian weapons, but also had to shoot them down over its territory.
The government’s reaction – an appeal to NATO, emergency meetings, and mobilization of reservists – demonstrates the seriousness of the threat, which Warsaw sees not only as a local incident but also as a security challenge for the entire Alliance.
