Drones attacked the Syzran refinery in Russia: details

On the night of December 28, drones attacked the Syzran oil refinery in the Samara region of Russia. In addition to the refinery, two local power substations were allegedly hit.

The attack on the region was reported by Russian media, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

At night, residents of Syzran reported the sounds of explosions and a fire in the area of the local oil refinery. Photos and videos were posted on social media showing a bright fire and flames on the territory of the enterprise.

It is noted that the refinery was struck at least twice, and up to ten fire trucks and three ambulances were sent to the scene.

Locals report that the strike hit the ELOU-AVT-5 unit, a complex primary oil processing system designed to prepare, desalinate and separate oil into different fractions before further deep processing.

In addition, two substations were reportedly hit, causing interruptions in power supply and central heating in some areas.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that on the night of December 27-28, UAVs attacked the Samara, Belgorod, Kursk, Saratov, Volgograd and Rostov regions of Russia. It is alleged that Russian air defense managed to shoot down a total of 25 drones, 12 of them over the Samara region.
