Duda tells how Poland will act if Russia attacks Ukrainian NPPs

There is a danger of Russian attacks on Ukrainian nuclear power plants. Polish President Andrzej Duda said that in the event of Russian attacks, Poland would have to immediately intervene and call in experts. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to RAP.
“We must take into account the danger of a Russian attack on nuclear power plants in Ukraine, and if it happens, we must immediately intervene,” Duda said, commenting on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s words about the threat of attacks.
Andrzej Duda noted that Russia has already attacked the out-of-service Zaporizhzhia and Chornobyl NPPs, but fortunately, this did not lead to a nuclear disaster.
“There is a risk of attacks on other power plants – Rivne or Khmelnytsky – and we must take this into account. If there are attacks, we will have to intervene immediately and call in experts,” the Polish president said.
Since March 2022, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been controlled by Russian troops. In 2022, the Chornobyl nuclear power plant was under Russian occupation for 35 days.
It should be noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that he wants to make changes to the country’s nuclear doctrine.
Putin also listed several other conditions under which Russia would use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Among them:
- a critical threat to the sovereignty of the Russian Federation with conventional weapons;
- after receiving reliable data on the massive launch of missiles and UAVs while crossing the Russian border;
- upon receipt of information about the launch of air and space attack assets (strategic aircraft and other aircraft) towards Russia;
- in case of aggression against Belarus.
