Two Ukrainian biathletes, Pidhrushna and Semerenko, have officially retired

Famous Ukrainian biathletes Olena Pidhrushna and Vita Semerenko officially ended their athletic careers at the Ukrainian Championships.

Semerenko and Pidhrushna ran a symbolic lap, which was their last, according to Suspilne, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

The biathletes’ greatest achievement was their victory in the women’s relay at the 2014 Olympic Games. At that time, Valentina Semerenko and Yulia Dzhima also won gold as part of the Ukrainian team.

Pidhrushna is the 2013 world champion in the sprint; she also has five lower-tier medals from world championships (two silvers and three bronzes). At the European Championships, she won five gold medals.

In World Cup events, Pidhrushna has stood on the podium 21 times (five gold medals, 10 silver, and six bronze). Her highest achievement in the overall standings was seventh place in the 2015–2016 season.

Vita Semerenko is the bronze medalist in the 2014 Winter Olympics sprint, a seven-time World Championship medalist (two silver medals and five bronze), and a five-time European champion.

At the World Cup level, Semerenko has won three gold medals, nine silver, and five bronze. Her personal best in the overall standings is tenth place in the 2012/13 season.
