The average salary in Ukraine’s central government agencies amounted to UAH 51.4 thousand in February this year. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs.

For comparison, the average salary in the country in February – the one from which insurance premiums were paid and which was taken into account for calculating pensions – was UAH 18,589. This was reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine. In January, this figure was even slightly higher – UAH 18,660.32.

Who is ahead in terms of average salaries in government agencies

The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) took the lead in the ranking, employing 532 people, with an average salary of UAH 90.1 thousand in February.

For comparison, in January, this National Commission employed 525 people, and the average salary was UAH 65.1 thousand. And it was the 5th place in the January rating.

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) took the second place in terms of average salary both in February and January. However, while in January the average salary there was UAH 75.8 thousand and the staff consisted of 355 people, in February the average salary level increased to UAH 79.4 thousand and the number of employees decreased to 352.

The Antimonopoly Committee ranked third in terms of average salary in February, with UAH 77.4 thousand (267 employees). By the way, in January, this structure was the leader in terms of average salaries – UAH 76.0 thousand, and then it employed one less person – 266 people.

What about the salaries of the management

The average salary of the heads of departments is UAH 116.5 thousand.

The February top 3 highest salaries look like this:

Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine – UAH 401.4 thousand,

NKREKP – UAH 294.3 thousand,

NAPC – UAH 243.2 thousand.

For the sake of objectivity, it should be noted that abnormally high salaries for a particular month are still a relative indicator. For example, the leadership of the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine was paid UAH 401,400 in February, while in January it was “only” UAH 91,900.

The management of the State Financial Monitoring Service – the leader of the January rating – had UAH 423.5 thousand on their payroll, while in February they received “only” UAH 72.8.

As a reminder, in March, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law introducing unified approaches to civil servants’ remuneration based on job classification.

As MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak explained at the time, the amendment to increase salaries for the State Audit Service passed, but the amendments to increase salaries for the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Digital Transformation and Ministry of Economy were not supported. The MPs also disagreed with the possibility of establishing a seniority bonus of more than 30% of the salary for employees of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat.
