Child benefits in a new way: how to get money quickly now
6 February 00:28
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a decision that significantly simplifies the registration and payment of basic types of state assistance for families with children. This concerns payments related to pregnancy and childbirth, childcare assistance for children under one year of age, and the “yeYasla” support program for working parents. This was announced by the Minister of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine, Denis Ulyutin, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to him, the state is moving towards the simplest and fastest mechanism for supporting families with children, without queues, unnecessary paperwork, and wasted time.
Where to apply for assistance
From now on, you can apply for “child” benefits not only at the service centers of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. For the convenience of parents, the list of application points has been expanded to include
- administrative service centers (ASCs);
- authorized representatives of local communities.
This should reduce the burden on state institutions and make the process more accessible to families in communities.
How funds will be calculated
The payment mechanism has also been updated and modernized:
- assistance in connection with pregnancy and childbirth can now be credited directly to the recipient’s current account “Dія.Картки” — without any special usage restrictions;
- childcare assistance for children under one year of age and payments under the “єЯсла” program will be credited to any bank card with a special account mode;
- if there is no such account, Oschadbank will open it automatically upon request.
The Ministry of Social Policy notes that, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, work is already underway to make all these services available directly in the Diya app.
More freedom in using money
Separately, the state has expanded the areas of use of funds with the help of childcare benefits for children up to one year old and the “yeYasla” program.
Now parents can more freely choose goods and services for their child, depending on the real needs of the family.
Changes to the deadlines for submitting documents
Another important innovation is the update of the deadlines for applying for assistance:
- an application for childcare assistance for children under one year of age can now be submitted within three months after the child’s first birthday;
- the deadline for applying for payments under the “yeYasla” program has been extended: if you apply within six months after starting full-time work, the funds will be paid immediately for the entire period;
- payments will be made from the month after the child reaches one year of age (but not before January 2026) until the month when the child reaches three years of age.
“Mothers should not have to stand in line”
“Mothers with small children should not have to stand in the cold in huge queues to receive state assistance. The decisions taken today will simplify and speed up this process,” emphasized Denis Ulyutin.
What is the “єЯсла” program?
As a reminder, on January 1, Ukraine officially launched the “YeYasla” program to support working parents. It is designed for families with children aged 1 to 3 and provides compensation for the costs of childcare and education.
The program provides for two types of payments — 8,000 and 12,000 hryvnias, depending on the format of care.
