E-prescriptions and referrals will be sent to Diia: what patients need to know

8 September 2025 21:18

All important medical notifications – from an electronic prescription to a treatment plan – will be sent to Ukrainians via the Diia mobile application for administrative services. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with a link to the relevant website.

The new service will allow Ukrainians not to worry that a message from a doctor will be lost among dozens of others in Viber or SMS. Everything important will be stored in a smartphone that is always at hand.

Electronic medicine at a distance of one touch

From now on, people will receive notifications in the Diia app:

  • notifications about the creation of a treatment plan, so that the patient always has access to the medication regimen or procedures;
  • e-prescriptions no longer need to be searched through messages or asked to duplicate them by a doctor;
  • information about prescription cancellation by the doctor will also be sent to the application and will avoid misunderstandings at the pharmacy;
  • referrals to a specialist or for examination will be stored directly in the app.

This means that the patient will be able to respond promptly without wasting time searching for information, and doctors will be able to work more efficiently.

How the new service works

To receive notifications with the necessary medical information, a patient needs to:

  1. Have the Diia app installed on their smartphone.
  2. Log in to the app.

As soon as the doctor creates a new electronic document – a prescription, referral, or treatment plan – the person will instantly receive a push notification. All received notifications will be stored in the “Menu → Notifications” section.

People who have not yet used Diia will continue to receive notifications in the traditional way – via Viber or SMS.

Notifications about prescriptions and referrals are now in Diia: why it’s important

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine is convinced that the new service will, first, save time, as there will be no need to call the registry or search for messages among hundreds of others. Secondly, the innovation improves patient safety: a person will always know what the doctor has prescribed and can check the data at any time. Thirdly, it will improve communication between the patient, doctor and pharmacy and reduce the number of errors.
