Former head of Ternopil regional council is served with new suspicion

The People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the 7th and 8th convocations, former chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council, and current deputy of the same regional council were served with a notice of suspicion of failure to declare property worth more than UAH 2 million. This was reported by the NABU press service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The surname is not specified, but according to the case file, it follows that it is Mykhailo Holovko.

It is noted that the suspect, when he was the head of the Ternopil Regional Council, did not indicate in his declaration for 2022-2023 an apartment of 201.9 “square meters” registered in his mother’s name.

Also, several non-residential premises were not listed in the declaration: a parking space, a car wash and a storage room, and funds in a bank account.

The MP’s actions were classified as declaring false information.

It is also noted that the court is currently hearing a case on charges of extortion of a bribe from the owner of a private enterprise and receiving UAH 600 thousand.

In June 2023, the head of the Ternopil Regional Council and two deputy heads of the Ternopil Regional State Administration were served with a notice of suspicion for extorting a bribe of about UAH 2.4 million from a volunteer entrepreneur. The officials were detained red-handed after handing over the third tranche of over UAH 600,000.

During a search of the office of the head of the Ternopil regional council, ammunition and explosive-like items were found.

Mykhailo Holovko was an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity and was the commandant of the tent camp on Lutheranska Street.

In the 2014 snap parliamentary elections, he was elected for the second time as a Member of Parliament of Ukraine in constituency 164 (Ternopil region) from the All-Ukrainian Union Svoboda party.

Since November 2020, he has been the Chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council.
