There are 1350 dairy enterprises in Ukraine, but only 73 of them produce half of all milk. Olena Zhupinas, Deputy Director General of the Association of Milk Producers, told the "Komersant Ukrainian" YouTube channel.

“Astarta, which produces more than 300 tons of milk per day. Ukrainian Dairy Company, which produces almost 200 tons of milk per day. And the Agroprodservice company, which is located in the Ternopil region, produces up to 140 tons of milk per day, and continues to increase its volumes.

In total, 1350 dairy farms are engaged in milk production in Ukraine, 73 of which provide 50% of raw milk for processing,” she said.

Poltava, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions remain the most dairy-producing. At the same time, Western Ukraine is actively increasing production – for example, Ternopil region has tripled the volume of dairy farms over the past 8 years, Zhupinas added.

It is worth reminding that the dairy industry of Ukraine is traditionally among the leading sectors of the agro-industrial complex. According to the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club association, in 2024, milk production in the country exceeded 7 million tons. About 70% of the production comes from agricultural enterprises, the rest from private households.

Despite the war, Ukraine retains the status of an important player in the dairy market. In 2025, exports of milk and dairy products grew by 17%, with Poland, Moldova, Georgia, and Asian countries remaining the main markets. At the same time, experts note that competition in the domestic market is intensifying, and consumers are increasingly paying attention to quality and brand.

Analysts predict that in the coming years, Ukrainian dairy companies will focus on expanding the range of processed products, such as cheese, yogurt and milk powder, which are in stable demand abroad.
