On April 9, the first transaction since the launch of the “Electricity Import-Export” section was concluded on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange platform. This was reported by the UEB press service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The auction was initiated by PJSC “Ukrhydroenergo,” which sold electricity via the Ukraine–Moldova interconnection.

The sale took place as a block trade during nighttime hours—from 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., every day, with a delivery period from April 15, 2026, to April 30, 2026.

The volume of electricity sold amounted to 1,920 MWh.

“The conclusion of the first agreement in the new section is an important milestone for the development of exchange-based electricity trading and the expansion of organized market instruments. It also demonstrates the practical demand for an exchange mechanism to conduct transactions in the electricity import and export segment,” the press service reported.

According to UEB Chief Operating Officer Volodymyr Bryukhovetskyi, the conclusion of the first agreement in the electricity import and export section is a landmark achievement for the exchange and all market participants.

“The actual start of trading in this segment demonstrates companies’ readiness to use the organized market for cross-border transactions and confirms the importance of developing transparent and competitive mechanisms for electricity trading in Ukraine,” Bryukhovetsky emphasized.

As a reminder:

In early March, Ukraine resumed electricity exports during surplus hours due to an improvement in the power system.

In March, Ukraine exported 30.2 thousand MWh—mostly to Moldova, accounting for 47.5%. Compared to March 2025, exports fell by 61%.
