Ex-intelligence officer Chervinsky’s preventive measure reduced: what the court will decide
2 December 2025 17:40
The court has changed the measure of restraint for Colonel Roman Chervinsky, who is involved in several high-profile cases, replacing round-the-clock house arrest with night arrest. This was reported by his lawyer Konstantin Globa, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the defense lawyer, the court concluded that the risks in the case have decreased, so from now on Chervinsky will be able to officially work and exercise other constitutional rights.
“Today, on Roman Chervinsky’s birthday, the court changed the measure of restraint. From now on, house arrest will be effective only at night,” Globa said.
What is known about the case
Roman Chervinsky is a former acting commander of a unit of the Special Operations Forces.
In April 2023, the SBU announced that it had served him with a notice of suspicion for abuse of office (Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code). According to the investigation, his actions during an unauthorized special operation led to casualties after the Russian shelling of the Kanatove airfield. Investigators claim that Chervinsky unauthorizedly initiated the operation with the involvement of a Russian pilot.
The head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, stated that the operation was not approved by the state authorities and “contained significant risks.”
The Western press also speculated about his alleged involvement in the bombing of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, but no evidence was provided. Chervinsky himself denies any involvement and calls the criminal prosecution politically motivated, in particular, linking it to his statements about the foiled special operation against the Wagnerites in 2021.
Earlier, the court set bail for him at UAH 9 million, and in November 2025 reduced it to UAH 6 million.
