Electric boom: the most popular electric cars by region in Ukraine

In May 2023, more than 4.1 thousand electric vehicles (BEVs) were registered in Ukraine. The largest number of registrations of these cars fell on several regions, according to "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing data from the Ukravtoprom association.
The leader in the number of registered electric cars was Lviv region, where almost 600 electric vehicles joined the fleet in May. At the same time, 94% of them were used cars.
Kyiv came in second with 507 new registrations, of which 67% were used electric cars. The top three was rounded out by Dnipropetrovska oblast, where 339 electric vehicles were registered, 79% of which were used.
Kyiv (260 units, 77% used) and Vinnytsia (252 units, 91% used) regions also demonstrated high rates of electric car registrations.
Among new electric vehicles, the most popular model in Kyiv, Kyiv and Vinnytsia regions was the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4. In Lviv region, HONDA M-NV was the best-seller, and in Dnipropetrovska region, NISSAN Ariya was the best-seller.
In the segment of used electric cars imported from abroad, the leaders were the NISSAN Leaf (Lviv and Vinnytsia regions), TESLA Model Y (Kyiv and Dnipro region) and TESLA Model 3 (Kyiv region).
The statistics show the growing popularity of electric vehicles in Ukraine and indicate the regions where these cars are in greatest demand. The demand for electric cars grew by 68% over the year.
Meanwhile, the West is fighting the Chinese electric car industry: The EU is ready to take tough measures against Chinese electric cars, and the US will quadruple tariffs on them.
