Electricity and eggs lead the way in June price growth in Ukraine

In June 2024, there was a significant acceleration in inflation, according to a report by the State Statistics Service, reports "Komersant Ukrainian"
Consumer price growth was 2.2%, which is significantly higher than in the previous months. In annual terms, inflation reached 4.8%, up from 3.3% in May.
Core inflation also increased, totalling 0.5% in June, up from 0.3% in May. In annual terms, this figure reached 5%.
The largest price increase was observed in the housing and utilities sector, where tariffs rose by 17.4%, mainly due to a 63.6% increase in electricity prices. Among food products, eggs rose the most – by 15.5%.
There was also an increase in prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (by 1.1%) and transport services (by 0.8%), in particular due to a 10% rise in railway ticket prices.
The National Bank of Ukraine forecasts a further moderate acceleration in inflation and its reaching the target range of 5% ± 1 pp by the end of the year.
As wrote, inflation is slowing down, but experts are preparing for the worst.
