As a result of Russian shelling last night, Zaporizhzhya NPP was on the verge of blackout, but Ukrainian power engineers managed to quickly remedy the situation. This was reported by Energoatom, Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ reports

According to the power engineers, during a large-scale missile attack on Ukraine at 5:10 a.m., the external overhead line of OHL 750kV Dniprovska, which connects the temporarily occupied ZNPP to the integrated power system of Ukraine, was disconnected. After that, ZNPP was connected to the Ukrainian power grid only by the OHL-330kV Zaporizhzhya TPP-Ferrosplavna.

“This situation is extremely dangerous and threatens to cause an emergency. If the last line of communication with the national power grid is disconnected, ZNPP will be in another blackout, which is a serious violation of the conditions for safe operation of the plant,”

– said Energoatom CEO Petro Kotin.

At the same time, the Zaporizhzhia TPP-Ferrosplavna line itself has only recently been put into operation after being damaged by previous shelling.

However, at around 11 am, the power company reported that the OHL-750kV Dniprovska line had been restored.

Thus, ZNPP is again connected to the Ukrainian power grid by two lines, which provide power for the plant’s own needs.

Since the beginning of the Russian occupation, Zaporizhzhia NPP has experienced eight full blackouts and one partial blackout, with the launch of emergency diesel generators and safety systems. Their failure threatens to cause an emergency, according to Energoatom.
