Energoatom pays billions to keep electricity cheaper for Ukrainians

In 2025, Energoatom continues to fully fulfill its special obligations to ensure the availability of electricity for household consumers (PSO). This mechanism is aimed at reducing the financial burden on Ukrainian families so that the cost of electricity for the population remains lower. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the company’s press service.
Since the beginning of the year, Energoatom has paid UAH 69.24 billion (including VAT) from its own profits for the PSO service:
- uAH 17 billion 101 million – 100% of the cost of PSO service in January 2025 (of which UAH 8 billion 433 million was paid in December 2024);
- uAH 17 billion 71 million – 100% of the cost of the PSO service in February 2025;
- uAH 16 billion 696 million – 100% of the cost of the PSO service in March 2025;
- uAH 15 billion 391 million – 100% of the cost of the PSO service in April 2025;
- uAH 10 billion 446 million – 80% of the forecast cost of the PSO service in May 2025.
“Energoatom is working efficiently and continues to fulfill its special duties, guaranteeing the availability of electricity for the population. The company not only ensures the stability of the Ukrainian power system, but also supports Ukrainian families in today’s difficult conditions,” said NNEGC CEO Petro Kotin.
According to the draft financial plan of NNEGC Energoatom, the projected cost of PSO services in 2025 is UAH 161.87 billion (including VAT).
As a reminder, in 2024, Energoatom paid UAH 145 billion 356 million (including VAT) for PSO services. In particular, 100% of the payment for the PSO service in 2024 was made, which is UAH 128 billion 303 million, and the debt for the PSO service of previous years was repaid – UAH 17 billion 53 million.
