Energy-saving habits: how Ukrainians can reduce their electricity bills
5 March 03:27
Ukraine’s power system continues to operate under increased load due to the consequences of Russian attacks. In this regard, economical electricity consumption remains an urgent challenge for every citizen. Experts say that the introduction of simple energy-saving habits can help Ukrainians reduce electricity consumption by up to 20%, which will not only reduce the load on the power system but also reduce the numbers in their bills, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The simplest changes in everyday life can have a significant effect. For example, turning off the lights when you leave a room or turning off electrical appliances completely when not in use can significantly reduce consumption.
It is especially important to use powerful electrical appliances rationally. During peak hours (from 7:00 to 11:00 and from 16:00 to 21:00), you should refrain from turning on boilers, washing machines, heaters, and air conditioners at the same time. Instead, it is better to plan the use of these appliances at night or during the day, when the load on the system is less.
According to statistics, the following appliances consume the most electricity:
- tVs, computers, game consoles (28%),
- washing machines, dryers (14%)
- lighting (13%)
- refrigerators (11%).
Therefore, even simple habits such as turning off appliances when not in use or switching to energy-efficient modes can significantly reduce overall energy consumption.

Saving electricity is not about giving up comfort, but about a conscious approach to consumption. Reasonable use of resources helps to save not only your own money, but also significantly helps the operation of critical infrastructure: hospitals, transportation, water and heat supply.
Energy conscious consumption is not a temporary measure, but a necessity for the coming years. Saving energy makes us stronger! For more information on energy efficiency and the operation of household appliances, visit the EnergoSvidomi website.
