After the outbreak of full-scale war, Croatia became a second home for many Ukrainians. An active community quickly formed here, supporting each other and helping those who stayed in Ukraine. All this became possible thanks to the joint efforts of local volunteers, partner organizations, and the support of the Favbet Foundation headed by Andriy Matyukha, the Foundation said in a release.

Center in Zagreb: space for Ukrainians

In April 2022, Favbet Foundation supported the creation of the Adaptation Center for Ukrainians in Zagreb.

“Now it’s a place where people meet, children learn, and life gradually takes on new colors.

There are free Croatian and English classes, creative clubs, and sporting events. There are also Ukrainian, math and art therapy classes for children.”

In December 2023, the center celebrated St. Nicholas Day for the first time. More than 150 children came and received gifts from Andriy Matyukha. Since then, this holiday has become a good tradition, the Foundation says.

In May 2024, the Favbet Foundation and the Chervona Kalyna NGO organized a sports festival that brought together more than 1000 participants.

“The event turned into a large-scale celebration of unity, where Ukrainians and Croats spent a day together, united by a common goal – to support Ukrainians, especially those at the front.

Throughout the year, the center organizes dozens of activities – from master classes and the Day of Embroidery to thematic festivals – to keep people connected to their native culture.”

Results of cooperation between Favbet Foundation and the Croatian charity Dobro Dobrim

The Croatian association Dobro Dobrim (DoDo) has been helping Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. During this time, many humanitarian supplies have been organized.

After the tragedy at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, more than 11 tons of aid were collected : food, clothing, hygiene products, and medicines. The delivery was made with the support of the Favbet Foundation.

In 2024-2025, several large deliveries took place, including basic necessities for civilians, medical and disinfectant supplies, and equipment for the military. The Croatian companies Kefo d.o.o., Lochman & Rauscher, Medical Intertrade HEP, Dobro Dobrim Association, Favbet Foundation and the Croatian government joined in organizing the deliveries .

In August this year, on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, the community in Zagreb held a charity event to collect and deliver humanitarian aid for Ukrainians. The initiative brought together the Favbet Foundation, Dobro Dobrim, the Embassy of Ukraine and the NGO Chervona Kalyna.
