Fake circles: Ukrainians warned about a new fraudulent scheme on Telegram

Scammers use fake video circles in the Telegram messenger to lure money or spread phishing links. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The agency explained how the attackers operate:
- first, they hack the account and upload the user’s video messages;
- then they edit a fake monologue in which the hacked user seems to be asking for money;
- send the fake video to the user’s friends and acquaintances.
How to protect yourself?
To protect yourself from deception, law enforcement officers advise checking the information in case of receiving such a suspicious circle.
You should ask your friend to write in another messenger or call.
You should also enable two-factor authentication to protect your account.
