The financier named the level of income for a comfortable life in Ukraine

Ukrainians in 2025 often ask how much they need to earn to live a truly comfortable life, given the current economic challenges and individual needs.

The average salary in the country this year is about 20-23 thousand hryvnias per month, which corresponds to about 500-600 US dollars. This is enough to provide the most basic necessities: housing, food, and basic services. However, according to financier Bohdan Yaremchyk, in order not to count every penny and truly feel financially independent, the required income should be much higher, several times higher than the average salary.
The minimum wage in Ukraine for 2025 is UAH 8,000, but the actual amount after taxes is less and remains at a level that falls short of the actual subsistence level. Efforts to increase it are currently ineffective, and no changes are expected by the end of the year.
The specialist determines the optimal level of income that allows you to avoid constant restrictions and build a financial cushion, engage in hobbies, have free time and relax. The benchmark for a comfortable income in 2025 is as follows:
- For a single person, it is enough to have about 40-50 thousand hryvnias per month to feel confident, rely on oneself and afford more than just basic needs.
- For a family with one child, the money costs increase – tuition fees and hobby groups are taken into account, and you need to earn a total of about 80 thousand hryvnias a month.
- For a family of four, a comfortable lifestyle, including recreation, savings, and development, can be achieved with a total income of at least UAH 100,000 per month.
The level of a comfortable income varies depending on the locality, as expenses are higher in large cities: rent or mortgage payments, transportation, access to services, and the cost of goods and services are rising. In addition, personal needs such as travel, children’s development, medical treatment, leisure, and savings also affect the budget.
