The Andriy Matyukha Foundation has become a partner of the project “Protection of Ukrenergo Repairmen”, which will train Ukrenergo’s repair crews and technical staff in life-saving skills. The initiative has already planned 75 one-day trainings.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, Ukraine’ s energy infrastructure has been the target of missile and drone attacks: since 2022, more than 63 thousand facilities have been damaged, and over 30 massive strikes on the power system have been recorded in the three years of the war. At least 160 power engineers were killed and more than 300 were injured as a result of these attacks. 13 Ukrenergo employees were killed at their workplaces while doing their jobs.
Ukrenergo’s repair teams work on high-voltage substations and lines under the constant threat of shelling. Therefore, first aid skills often become critically important at the scene.
“Power engineers are the people who keep Ukrainians’ homes lit even after the worst of the Russian attacks. This project will provide Ukrenergo employees with the knowledge and skills that can save lives in the first minutes of waiting for an ambulance,” says Andriy Matyukha, founder of the eponymous foundation .
It is planned that the initiative will cover about 1500 Ukrenergo employees. They will learn algorithms for dealing with direct threats, how to apply tourniquets, tamponade wounds, quickly assess the condition of victims and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. After the training, each participant will receive a personalized certificate.
Support for the project “Protection of Ukrenergo’s repairmen” is part of the Andriy Matyukha Foundation’ s systemic efforts to support Ukraine’s resilience in the face of a full-scale war.
During 2025, the Foundation has already twice financed the purchase of modern surgical equipment for the Emergency Surgery Department of the National Children’s Hospital “Okhmatdyt” and joined the “Origami for Ukraine” project to support the rehabilitation of Ukrainian defenders.
