The State Property Fund of Ukraine has put up for privatization the Nauka recreation center in the village of Sychavka on the Black Sea coast. The auction will take place on November 28, with a starting price of just UAH 204 thousand. The facility belongs to the Physical and Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, but has not been used for more than three years. This was reported by the SPFU press service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
What exactly is being sold
The lot includes more than 900 square meters of buildings:
- 22 wooden houses (for vacationers, staff and administration)
- several warehouses, showers, restrooms, parking, water tanks;
- own transformer substation.
The base has access to the sea and is located between Yuzhne and Koblevo, a popular resort destination.

Why it is important
The facility has the potential for re-profiling, as the terms of sale allow the new owner to change its purpose. This could be a profitable investment for businesses focused on tourism, logistics, or even the restoration of Soviet resort locations.
However, the land plot is not included in the sale, which may complicate the reconstruction. In addition, the territory is located in the protected zone of the archaeological monument – the Sychavka mound burial ground.
The SPFU has recently been actively privatizing outdated facilities of departmental institutions. For example, in October 2024, the Moryak recreation center near Lake Cahul was sold with an almost threefold increase in value – from UAH 808 thousand to UAH 2.5 million.
How the auction will be held
The auction for the sale of Nauka will be held in the Prozorro.Sale format, which ensures openness and competition. If the bidding repeats the fate of the previous ones, the starting price may increase several times.
