Photos and videos of the spectacular solar eclipse of 2024

On Monday, 8 April, residents of North America, the United States, Canada and several European countries were able to see a total solar eclipse, Komersant ukrainskyi 
reports.
The solar eclipse peaked at 20:18 and ended at 23:52 Kyiv time.
How the solar eclipse took place
During a total solar eclipse, the Moon aligns itself between the Earth and the Sun, becoming almost the same size as the Sun itself. This alignment leads to a short period of total eclipse, during which the Moon completely covers the solar disc, the duration of which depends on the viewer’s location.
Photos and videos were posted on the Internet showing how the solar eclipse looked in different countries.
The 2024 solar eclipse was not visible in Ukraine, but it was possible to watch it online. The eclipse was broadcast by NASA.
Time and Date also provided an opportunity to see the eclipse.
The Space.com portal also broadcast the event.
The last total solar eclipse in America took place in August 2017, but according to Fred Espenak, a former astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Centre, the 2024 total solar eclipse will be “better” than the one in 2017, as its path is almost 60% wider and its duration is about 60% longer.
