The American company Tesla has come under pressure from the French authorities for advertising its cars as “fully self-driving”. Regulators accuse the manufacturer of deceptive marketing practices and demand that it stop making such statements. In case of refusal, Tesla faces a fine of 50 thousand euros per day, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Politico reports , citing a decision by the French consumer watchdog made after an investigation that lasted from 2023 to 2024. In addition to incorrect statements about autonomy, the company was also accused of violating consumer rights, including delays in refunds and the lack of receipts for cash payments.

Tesla has four months to remedy the violations. If this does not happen, fines will be automatically charged.

This is not the first conflict between the company and European regulators. In 2020, a similar lawsuit was filed against Tesla in Germany, but Elon Musk’s company managed to overturn the court decision and continues to advertise its cars as “unmanned”.

In the US, Tesla is also under legal pressure due to numerous accidents involving the autopilot function. The company is involved in lawsuits related to deaths caused by accidents using this technology.

In addition to technical and legal problems, Tesla is also facing image losses. Ten owners in France have already filed a lawsuit against the company, accusing Elon Musk of political activity that allegedly led to a drop in the value of their cars and made them a target for vandals.
