France will introduce a ban on the use of social media by people under 15 starting in the new school year.

This is reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP), "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“The bill, which consists of two articles, aims to ban “the provision of social networking services by online platforms to minors under the age of 15″ from September 1, 2026,” the report says.

In December, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the country should ban children under the age of 15-16 from using social media. According to the head of state, mandatory age verification will be introduced in all social networks. Children and teenagers under the age of 15 will be banned from accessing the services.

In November, the European Parliament adopted a resolution proposing to set the minimum age for registration on social networks at 16 years.
