French edition removes text on authorization of Scalpas strikes

On Sunday, the French newspaper Le Figaro reported that France and the United Kingdom, following the United States, had granted Ukraine permission to use their long-range SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles to strike Russian territory. However, today these words are no longer in the news, reports "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Ukrainska Pravda.

The original version of the article read:

“The French and British allowed Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory using their SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles.”

However, this phrase was changed on Monday morning. The new version of the text reads as follows:

“The debate was already raging in the chancellery about allowing the use of Western missiles against Russian territory. Emmanuel Macron spoke in favor of this during his state visit to Germany in May 2024.”

The outlet did not provide any sources or other details about this information.

The article generally refers to US President Joe Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike deep into Russian territory.

“This decision marks a major change in the operations of Ukrainian forces, which are said to have more American missiles than Franco-British ones,”

– the article read. But as of Monday morning, this sentence was also missing from the text.

As wrote, yesterday, according to the New York Times, US President Joe Biden for the first time authorized the Ukrainian military to use long-range ATACMS missiles to strike Russian territory.

Le Figar added that Britain and France had given the same permission to use their weapons.

Today, some sources report that the authorization was actually only for strikes on the Kursk region of Russia.
