In the final match of the group stage of the UEFA Nations League 2024/2025, the national team of Ukraine defeated Albania (2: 1), and the Czech Republic defeated Georgia, which allowed the Ukrainian team to take second place in the group and claim promotion. Football 24 recalled the peculiarities of the tournament regulations, according to which the teams that became second in League B, including the national team of Ukraine, will compete in the playoffs with the third teams of League A groups for the right to play in the top division in the 2026/2027 season.

The Ukrainians will play the opening matches on their home field on March 20, 2025, and the return matches are scheduled for March 23.

The draw will take place on November 22 at 13:00 Kyiv time in Nyon, Switzerland.

Thus, the third teams of League A groups – Scotland, Serbia, Hungary, Belgium – and the second teams of League B groups – Greece, Austria, Turkey, Ukraine – will compete for places in League A.

That is, the rival of the Ukrainian national football team will be either the Scottish national team, the Serbian national team, the Hungarian national team, or the Belgian national team.

In addition, fans will also be able to watch the quarterfinal matches of the strongest teams in the League of Nations. The draw will also determine who will compete with whom.

Basket 1 will include the winners of League A groups – Portugal, France, Germany, Spain. And Basket 2 will feature the second teams of League A groups – Croatia, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark.

And for the sake of completeness, we recall that the third teams of League B groups – Slovenia, Georgia, Iceland, Ireland and the second teams of League C groups – Slovakia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Armenia – will compete for places in League B. And the best fourth-place teams of League C groups – Latvia, Luxembourg, and the second teams of League D groups – Malta, Gibraltar – will compete for places in League C.
